Sample Field Study Companies and Project Descriptions

 

1. Emerald Software Group: Specializes in providing applied business process, management software solutions for human capital and workforce management.

 

Project Description: Services needed will be in the areas of competitive analysis, price modeling, market penetration and development strategies. "A love of, and fascination with business in general, and the technology sector, specifically - education, and interest in international business and IP would be of particular interest."

 

2. Low Country Barbecue Restaurant: A Southern barbecue restaurant opened in April 2007 to serve as a prototype for franchising.

 

Project Description: Develop a grassroots marketing plan for their store and implementing it with the employees of the company. Retail Marketing background preferably in food service, but not mandatory.

 

3. Intellectual Capital Consulting: Focuses on assisting companies with revenue growth by determining which business metrics affect revenue. By understanding these drivers, executives know where to spend valuable resources, where it matters most to the customer.

4. Sneaky Sunday LLC: An online media destination for recommending the best clubs restaurants and bars in over 90 cities world wide.

 

Project Description: Building out the video capabilities of the site via www.sneakysunday.tv.

 

5. Chainalytics LLC: Specializes in providing leading companies advanced analytical services to improve supply chain performance. Specializing in the application of advanced decision sciences, Chainalytics supports improved strategic, tactical and operational decision-making in the areas of supply chain strategy, transportation, planning and inventory planning.

 

Project Description: Project Elevate- Interested in creating a program that will make their products appeal to upper level executives in organizations. Success rate is closely related to ability to accomplish this.

 

6. VC South: A holding company that creates operates and then sells B2B tech-based companies with rapid growth potential.

 

Project Description: Help needed with marketing and planning.

 


7. e-Balance Inc: An online virtual firm that specializes in reconciling checking accounts.

 

Project Description: Prospective student will be responsible for building the business from the ground up (i.e. business plan, marketing plan etc. carefully planning how the financial investment should be utilized, recommending a business structure, reporting to a Board, etc.)

 


8. Cosmetic & Laser Specialists: Started as a medical training service for emerging markets or for baby-boomers interested in retaining health and vigor not available at local doctors.

 

Project Description: Formalize regional business plan, Develop strategy for collectively persuading regional Doctors (FP, OB, Int. Med) to cooperate rather than compete for cosmetic business expansion plans to solicit investor capital.

 

9. AAR Corp: AAR provides a wide range of products and value-added services for the aviation/aerospace industry. They purchase, sell and lease a wide variety of new, used and overhauled aviation products.

 

Project Description: The PMA Division of AAR is in the process of developing an internal ales force. Area of interest includes developing a marketing analysis for aftermarket aircraft parts. Prospective student should have the ability to solicit information from various sources, identify opportunities and threats and build a marketing plan to assure success.

 

10. Kudzu Interactive: While experts at POS integration, Kudzu's greatest strength is in making online initiatives a success. Kudzu has worked closely with industry leading experts to make online ordering experience positive for the customer and more profitable for the restaurant.

 

Project Description: Assist to develop customer service department processes and documentation. Provides customer service to select restaurant, assist to build online menus, including graphic design, Trouble shoot technical issues, and telesales to franchises.
