Tapping into His Global Partners MBA

Richardo HublerRicardo Hubler is director of International Trade Development for the Metro Atlanta Chamber of Commerce, a position that grew directly out of his internship as a Global Partners MBA student at the Robinson College. Global Partners is an intensive, 14-month program of global commerce, which immersed Hubler in the business, culture, and the life of Atlanta, Rio, Paris, and cities in China. Along the way, in addition to valuable networking connections and on-the-ground business knowledge, he also picked up practical skills like how to shop for groceries and get a haircut in a foreign country. “I tap into my degree every day,” says Hubler about his work with the Chamber, where he’s been instrumental in helping Delta Air Lines establish a Shanghai route and in recruiting several international companies to set up shop in Georgia.

But today, this somewhat
bohemian biologist turned MBA student is energized by “business’s ability to influence change,” something she encountered firsthand through a Bi-National Business Grant from the Fulbright Scholarship Program.
Carrie Sloan used to describe herself as “nontraditional and the least likely person to attend business school.” But today, this somewhat bohemian biologist turned MBA student is energized by “business’s ability to influence change,” something she encountered firsthand through a Bi-National Business Grant from the Fulbright Scholarship Program. After earning the highly competitive award, Carrie spent 10 months attending classes and working in Mexico for New Ventures, an initiative of the World Resources Institute that works to promote sustainable growth in emerging markets. While working with government organizations and multinational corporations on corporate environmental sustainability, Carrie found her niche. As an environmentalist, she believes it is our responsibility to protect the environment. But as a realist and a business student, Carrie understands the need to protect the bottom line. “I’m just glad I have the opportunity to achieve both,” she said. Carrie will graduate from Robinson this May and hopes to pursue a career in corporate sustainability.
