University of Cairo
Joint Degree The first students may soon be enrolling in the joint MBA program with Cairo University and Georgia State. University classes have been scheduled to begin next winter, and several applications have been received, according to Kamal El-Sheshai, interim director of the Institute of International Business at Georgia State. "We have received applications and we have to scan those and see if we can start the program in January," El-Sheshai said. The purpose of this unique program is to provide an intense managerial training program for Egyptian students and an opportunity for Georgia State students to study a general business curriculum in Egypt. The degree was created to prepare future executives to assume responsible positions in a swiftly expanding Middle Eastern business environment. The recent expansion of multinational companies into Egypt, increased number of joint ventures, an emerging private sector and planned privatization of government-held companies in Egypt was the motivation to create the degree, according to CBA Associate Dean Yezdi Bhada. "This is a unique collaborative effort between two premier institutions to meet the needs of our increasingly global economy," Bhada said. The program will require that Egyptian students spend at least one semester studying in Atlanta while giving Georgia State students the option of enrolling in certain MBA courses in Cairo.
Upon completion of the program requirements, students will receive an MBA degree certificate issued jointly by Cairo University and Georgia State University.
