Géraldine Schmidt, Ph.D., Professor, Research Director, IAE de Paris
Biography Géraldine Schmidt has been a Professor at the Paris Institut d'Administration des Entreprises (I.A.E. de Paris) of the Sorbonne University (Université de Paris 1 - Panthéon Sorbonne), for two years. She is in charge of the research centre and doctoral program (D.E.A.). Prior TO iae, Dr. Schmidt was at the University of Nancy 2 (I.A.E.) for twelve years, also in charge of the research field.
The I.A.E. de Paris focuses on post-graduate programs in Management, primarily to business executives. I.A.E. plays a pivotal role as an interface between the business world, university academia and the research community, making it unique amongst French public institutions. I.A.E. maintains an internal staff of 30 permanent Professors of the highest academic level. The Professors are assisted by over 450 business executives and consultants who intervene throughout the year providing highly invaluable insight into current business needs and processes. The research centre (GREGOR) benefits from the unprecedented cooperation between faculty, staff and professionals associated with IAE.
Schmidt's research interest span human resource management, strategic management and intercultural management. Her doctoral work involved an international comparative study of management styles in large companies (France, Germany and Portugal). This work has been presented at several symposiums and published in specialised research reviews. Her more recent research efforts deal with the management of staff reductions, the impact of new information and communication technologies on flexibility at work, as well as on organizational learning process in small and medium sized companies.
She teaches post-graduate classes at the I.A.E. de Paris, and also in international programs co-developed by IAE and foreign universities. Her main courses are titled as follows: Management and Cultures, Strategic Human Resource Management, Epistemology and Research Methodology in Management Science, Organization Theories, and Strategic Management.
Schmidt is a member of different academic associations, and a reviewer of several different leading academic journals. She has been a member of the National University Council (CNU) for 4 years. She is a research director for numerous doctoral students.
