Ricardo P.C. Leal, Ph.D., Professor, COPPEAD Graduate Business School
Biography Ricardo P. C. Leal was a full time faculty in the United States for many years, having taught at Georgetown University and at the University of Nevada before returning to his native city of Rio de Janeiro. He teaches investments, international finance and doctoral level seminars at COPPEAD Graduate Business School of the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro. He is also a former dean of the school.
Dr. Leal has consulted for many institutions on the financial markets of Latin America. His research focuses on emerging securities markets, on the financing of corporations, and on corporate governance issues. His work has been published in very prestigious academic journals such as the Journal of Financial and Quantitative Analysis, Journal of Banking and Finance, Financial Management, Emerging Markets Quarterly and many others.
Dr. Leal is a director of the Latin American Network. He is a former president of the Business Association of Latin American Studies and former board of director's member of the Financial Management Association. He is also a co-editor of the Latin American Economic Abstracts, of the Latin American Business Review, regional editor of the Journal of Emerging Markets and the International Review of Financial Analysis, and an editorial board member of Revista de Administração. He holds a Ph.D. from the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro Graduate Business School.
