Previously Dr. Bruce served as Director of International Program Development for the Ivan Allen College and the DuPree College of Management at Georgia Tech. Before that he was the academic director of the Regents' Global Center and director of the International Business Council, both for University System of Georgia. He has taught at the Monterey Institute of International Studies, the U.S. Naval Postgraduate School, Olivet College, the University of San Francisco, and the U.S. Army Sergeants' Major Academy.

Dr. Bruce has conducted research in Argentina, Brazil, Paraguay, Peru, Venezuela, and the Dominican Republic. Other Latin American activities have included serving as a lecturer for the United States Information Agency in Mexico, Guatemala, Nicaragua, Costa Rica, Panama, Ecuador, Venezuela, Argentina, Paraguay, and Uruguay.

Dr. Bruce has conducted executive programs in Japan, Hong Kong, the United Kingdom, Belgium, France, Germany, Argentina, Chile, and Brazil. Currently he is the chairman of the Brazilian-American Chamber of Commerce of Georgia. The Argentine Government honored him as a Knight of the Order of May.
