Robinson Career Success Stories

Employer:
MedAssets, Inc. – Decision Support Technologies and Services (Corporate Headquarters: Alpharetta, Georgia; Decision Support Division – Nashville, Tennessee)

Title:
Senior Consultant

My overall responsibilities with my current company are…
to guide healthcare clients (hospitals, providers and payors) in the implementation of Alliance, the company's proprietary decision support software application. In addition to implementing the software, I work with clients to develop best practices for ongoing use of the application to ensure they realize a return on their investment.

What I like most about my job is…
the challenge of learning the decision support business and working with health care providers to improve their financial management processes.

The graduate program in the Robinson College of Business has helped me achieve my career goals because…
it educated me in every key functional area (marketing, accounting, finance, etc). The functional foundation that Robinson's curriculum offers enabled me to truly understand the strategic nature of decision making at an organizational level. This understanding helped me to communicate to potential employers how I would add value at all levels of the organization.

What I liked most about attending Robinson was…
the diversity of the student body and faculty in terms of race/ethnicity, professional experience, education and expertise.

Words of advice or encouragement I would to give current students or recent grads are…
Don't just come to class and leave. Get to know your classmates, interact outside of class and keep in touch with each other. I also suggest taking advantage of the workshops and programs the CMC offers. Those events offer other opportunities to meet alumni and industry professionals.

My favorite quote is…
"Every man must decide if he will walk in the light of creative altruism or the darkness of selfishness. This is the judgment. Life's most persistent question is, 'What are you doing for others?'" - Martin Luther King Jr.

What else would you like to add that may be of interest to students or other alums?
Take the time to develop your personal brand and the value you bring to an organization or your own business endeavor.
