Georgia State University has evolved from a part-time evening college to a leading public urban research university with nationally recognized programs, outstanding faculty and a growing international reputation. The university addresses today's most pressing urban problems: in Atlanta, in Georgia and worldwide. It's an outstanding university that provides a convenient, cost-effective means for individuals to develop their minds and improve their lives.
As a public institution in the University System of Georgia, Georgia State receives 46 percent of its operating funds from state sources. To achieve the next level of excellence, Georgia State must build on this foundation by constructing a stable base of private support. That's why the university conducted the Results campaign: the first university-wide fund-raising effort in its history.
The Results campaign addressed the needs of the university and all six of its college-level units: the College of Arts and Sciences; the J. Mack Robinson College of Business; the College of Education; the College of Law; the School of Policy Studies; the College of Health and Human Sciences. The campaign had several strategic objectives:
- Recruit and retain the best faculty
- Ensure superior academic programs
- Attract and support the best students
- Enhance the campus and community environment
- Strengthen annual support
The Results campaign will also endow programs, centers and institutes in which students and scholars address critical needs in business, science, education, law, policy issues, urban studies, arts and humanities, and health-care delivery.
