Course Title:  Topics in Information Systems Technology

Course Description:

In this course theories and models applicable to the analysis of systems structure and the processes of systems analysis and design are studied. Emphasis of the material covered is on information systems in particular. The focus of the course will be announced in advanced and the course syllabus will be made available for student review.

This is a research-oriented course focusing on the processes, issues, and strategies related to the development of information systems and IT applications. Theories and models applicable to the analysis and design of information systems are studied. Emphasis is on organizing the synthesizing current knowledge, identifying issues for research, and formulating research strategies.

Learning Objectives:

At the end of the course, students should: 

  • Be able to define and describe the steps in the definition and design of a research project in the systems development area 
  • Be fluent in the underlying theories and current streams of research in the systems development area 
  • Be able to discuss the literature from each of the current theories and streams of research in the systems development area
